As promised here is a glimpse of some of the fun that the crew at StreetFire.net is having during SEMA week 2007. The fine gents at Dodge and Jaguar were nice enough to let us borrow a brand new 2008 Dodge Viper and 2008 Jaguar XKR to take on our journey to Sin City.

I know it's hard work but someone has to do it. Check back frequently as we will be adding new footage as we get it.

Some people look forward to holidays such as Christmas or even their birthday but in the wonderful world of cars the entire year builds up to one week, SEMA.

And once again the StreetFire team will be attending this glorious event so that we can bring our loyal and glorious users coverage they might not otherwise see. As I sit here at the airport terminal trying to tune out the many annoying sounds of the airport (Dancing With the Stars on the TV, the announcer on the intercom trying to find some lost passenger, and the couple next to me having a conversation in a language I can't understand) I know that in 1 short hour my plane will land in Sin City and I will be in automotive heaven for the next 4 days.

With that I would like to encourage everyone to check back DAILY and HOURLY as we will be uploading videos not days, but HOURS after getting the coverage. We are dedicated to bringing you the best SEMA coverage so check back frequently.

Audi CEO Rupert Stadler unveils the new Metro Project Quattro at the 2007 Tokyo Auto show. Designed for large metro areas, this car comes equipped with a 1.4L turbo engine produces 150HP.

This car comes with the "Audi Mobile Device" that acts as a mobile phone, navigation system, and a music/video player. This is actually pretty cool because it can be used both inside and outside of the car. It plugs directly into the car with ease.

If you love Top Gear as much as I do then you wouldn't mind taking your shot at being the "Stig" around the Top Gear track. Now you have your shot at creating your own lap times in the new Gran Turismo 5 dated for release next year.

The man that designed cars for BMW and Aston Martin has decided decided to go where the grass is a bit greener. Henrik Fisker has designed a very good looking Hybrid supercar. With estimates at around 100 MPG, this makes your Prius look like a gas guzzling SUV.

Photo Gallery: 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 Dyno

Last week a little present showed up at the StreetFire Studio, a 2008 Dodge SRT4. We only had it for a few hours, but it was enough to get a taste of it.

I'm happy to report it's actually a pretty fun car to drive, and with 4 doors and a hatch it has a practical side as well. The big thing? The engine. Pretty impressive little mill in a car this size it actually gets the Caliber down the highway at a good clip, assuming you can keep the car pointed straight under all the torque steer. I'm sure a decent differential would help keep things under control. Beyond that I was pretty impressed given the price.

The big thing I wanted to get was a dyno, and was sad to find out Dodge delivered the car with turbo-power sapping 89 Octane. Combine that with a hotter than normal October day and the numbers could have been better. But despite the excuses, the SRT4 put down 260hp at the front wheels. The more impressive thing though was the dyno graph, great torque that doesn't let up. My theory being long stroke to get the car moving and perhaps a slightly undersized turbo, but the result was great for a stock car.

Knowing StreetFire viewers are more interested in how to mod the car than it's grocery capacity, I managed to shoot some under-car photos as well. So check those out if you're curious what the car looks like underneath.

Underwater FJ

Enjoy watching this FJ go where not too many vehicles have gone (and survived), underwater. They completely submerge this FJ and are still able to drive away afterwards.

Red Bull First Person Rally Car Racing with Travis and Lenay!

After doing a ride-a-long with Rhys Millen at Pikes Peak I now totally get how cool Rally racing is. This video is great for a few reasons:

1) If you watch it a bunch of times maybe I'll get Lenay's phone number

2) As I said, Rally racing is super cool

3) Did I mention that Lenay is pretty hot?

At first I thought this was a naked dude on a cooler, then I realized he was wearing shorts and felt it safe to laugh. Absolute classic... I think the construction method begins with drinking an entire case of beer and -THEN- deciding what to build, because you know they had one too many when they thought up this one ;-)

A motorcycle holding up a car around the Nurburgring

I love fast cars and fast bikes, and have first hand experience of how the two differ. Indeed bikes are better at some things, worse at others, so when you mix cars and bikes on the track, both tend to get frustrated with the other. Here is a great video from the Nurburgring in Germany that illustrates this more clearly than any I've seen before. The Car overtakes the bike in the corners, the bike overtakes the car on the straights. They both take separate lines causing one to lift when normally it would stay flat. Great Video! Thank you w00sher for the upload!
