The Million Dollar Baby

Brought to you by: 118952.

This video was shot live from the 2007 Las Vegas SEMA convention. You might want to watch this, if for no other reason than you've probably never seen anything like it! A Mercedes SL600, and we are talking the entire car, is covered in German crystals. Get out the polarized glasses if this car ever sees daylight! And, not only is the outside of the car decorated down to the exhaust and rims, but the inside is accented in white fur. Wonder if Paul Dalton (the British car wash specialist) will be consulted should they ever want to take the crystals off the SL600?

Here are a few facts about what lies beneath the crystals. The SL600 is available as a V12. It is derived from the SL series which has different engine choices. The current base price of the SL600 is $134,025 and the SL550 is $96,125. The 6th generation car currently does not have a release date. It’s coming out as a 2009 model but only a few spy shots have been revealed. An official production date currently does not exist.

SEMA 2007

Some people look forward to holidays such as Christmas or even their birthday but in the wonderful world of cars the entire year builds up to one week, SEMA.

And once again the StreetFire team will be attending this glorious event so that we can bring our loyal and glorious users coverage they might not otherwise see. As I sit here at the airport terminal trying to tune out the many annoying sounds of the airport (Dancing With the Stars on the TV, the announcer on the intercom trying to find some lost passenger, and the couple next to me having a conversation in a language I can't understand) I know that in 1 short hour my plane will land in Sin City and I will be in automotive heaven for the next 4 days.

With that I would like to encourage everyone to check back DAILY and HOURLY as we will be uploading videos not days, but HOURS after getting the coverage. We are dedicated to bringing you the best SEMA coverage so check back frequently.

Reggie Jackson's custom built LSx Camaro

We covered a little bit of this at PRI last month but here is a great video uploaded by EatonRice shot at the 2006 SEMA show in Las Vegas. A very special car for a legendary man.

HD (High Definition) video from SEMA

We shot a lot of footage at SEMA in high definition (1080i) and it just kills us to reduce the video all the way down to 428x321 resolution.

We thought it would be really cool to put up some HD video footage. We have a 3 minute clip from Giovanna Wheel's booth of some really nice Bentley's, Ferrari's, Royles, etc.

To watch the video we suggest the following. WMP 11, 2Ghz+ processor, 3 Mbps internet connection. The video is 1280x720 (720p for you HD geeks) encoded with WM9 VC-1 codec at 2.1 Mbps. No your dialup connection won't work.

When the page loads click the video once to activate the control and then right click it and click Zoom, Full-Screen. Please post in the comments how well it works from you (or doesn't) what type of internet connection you have (and provider) and your location.

We'll also post a follow-up direct link to the video for those on slow connections.

The dawn of car modification and Edelbrock

This is a real treat, and if you love cars you will love hearing how one of the premier families in car modification got their start. We talked with Vic Edelbrock himself about how his father started the company in 1938. Over 60 years later, the company is still here and so too is the car modification community that the Edelbrock family help found. Anyhow I hope you all enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed filming it.

SEMA Video: Mustang crashes in drifting exhibition

From Member: 066899
SEMA drift exhibition in Vegas (Smash)...Felt bad for the guy...The exhibition had just started.
I wish we had caught more of the drifting while we were at the show this week, we were there the first day and we got some great High Definition footage I'll post later (we did publish a video off one of the smaller cameras).

It looks like this is something we missed. I'm glad someone caught it on tape and uploaded it to StreetFire. If you have any more videos please upload them and we'll include them in our post-show SEMA coverage that we will be rolling out over the next few weeks!

Video: Transparent Wheels at SEMA

Clear wheels, yes, transparent wheels with no spokes to block your view of the brake assembly. We've shot hours of video here at the SEMA show over the last couple of days, and it's going to take us some time to put everything together, but this simply could not wait. Forgiato is launching a new line of wheels that use up to a 2" thick piece of lexan in order to achieve this affect. Looks like they're rolling it out for both cars and motorcycles.
