Turbo X Driving Academy

Not till recently has the Saab 9-3 been a contender in it's class (i.e. BMW 3 series, Audi A4, etc.) to the driving enthusiast... and that's because it's gone X (a special edition version with only 600 being sold in the states.) I know, you're still thinking... "SAAB!? Come on now... really?"

Yes, really... and for the lucky GMNEXT100 who attended the Turbo X Driving Academy at Road Atlanta, we've got footage of the intriguing the two day event!

Some one get me a napkin... Damn it! And these were brand new shorts!

There is nothing in the world that gets my gaga's going like the combobulated (I made that word up) and assorted symphony of an F360 Challenge Stradale, Porsche GT3 and Ayrton Senna's Mclaren Honda F1 racecar, blaring their souls out on the track! NOTHING!

Thank you MESTIVOSE, I personally give you Uber-kudo's for posting this breathtaking video!

If the unbelievable sounds and sights of the cars doesn't get you're pecker pecking, then the editing should. This is a really well made video, with numerous camera angles... including exterior shots and an in car cam.

I recommend... no... I insist you watch all ten minutes of Some cars at the racetrack! In the voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger, "Do it NOW!"

StreetFire's Bull Run Update: Stuck in the Desert!

The StreetFire Bull Run team -- comprised of our fearless leader Chris Jones and his burnt orange, open air Cobra, along with copilot Karan Singh -- have broken down in the middle of the desert somewhere between Los Angeles and Scottsdale Arizona. Apparently a rock in the road snuck up on them and bit a hole in the oil cooler. At this very moment they’re waiting patiently by the side of the road for a flatbed to haul their asses out of the scorching Sonoran desert heat.

Will the Cobra avoid further predators and make it to Scottsdale in one piece? Will Karan be picked up by border patrol? If you want to bet on this one, I’ve got some beachfront property in Arizona to sell you. In any case, the race goes on without them. Check out the progress of the Bull Run rally here.

There is something new to be learnt everyday... and in the case of this video posted by CAMMEDLS1, there is a lot to be learned!

A) Volvo's are as safe as they say.

B) Proper hand placement on the steering wheel is VERY important (otherwise you will crash.)

C) "Click it or ticket" (buckle your seat belt or you will get a ticket.. no screw that.. it will save your life!)

D) Don't grab the steering wheel if you are a passenger (unless you're Michael Schumacher.)

This silver bullet goes from zero to 338KM/H (210MPH) in exactly 60 seconds... 210mph! Are you kidding me!? And what better place to find this ridiculous video of Sam Hubinette doing what he does best? You have a front row seat from which to watch the crazy Swede drift his Mopar-modified Viper.

Get a birds-eye view from the tip of his rear wing, see the smoke start to billow from just behind his front tire and sit atop the windsheild as the car glides left and right.

Unsurprisingly, Sam has to pit to change his completely f***ed up tires, but then it's straight back out to enjoy the open expanse of tarmac.

2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR

The car in this video from ReedBrothersDodge doesn't even move and we don't even care!

How f***ing cool does this car look?! It's a 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, which stands for American Club Racer. Because, obviously, 600HP is simply not enough to please people these days. They have to have just a little bit more.

And that's where the ACR edition comes in. While the motor is untouched, this beast of a machine gets several upgrades that reduce weight and, thus, give us more power. Amen to that!

Extra air-flow management, enhanced breaking (did you see the size of those rotors and calipers...), lightweight wheels and some additional weight-saving measures mean this car means very serious business.

We're in love with this car and we haven't even seen it move or heard it rumble. Who we gotta pay around here to get some goddamn RWD, tire-smoking action of this thing?

Subaru Club Challenge Time Attack

This time we're on board with Sam Kerr as he eviscerates the competition in the Subaru Club Challenge Time Attack

The camera is mounted right at the top of the windshield and gives us an amazing view of the track, the line the car is taking, the upcoming corners and all the other cars that Sam's just blazing past.

The awesome visuals are complimented by the roar of the engine, the sound of the turbo spooling up and the occasional tire squeal. Hell Yeah!

We'd like to thank BILIMCI for this video...only we're not sure we actually saw anything.

This is a real blink or you'll miss it video. Apparently there's something very exciting happening, at least if you listen to the guy doing the videoing. Problem is, we're not sure what we're supposed to get excited about.

Allegedly there's a 1400HP Evo 8 that blasts past the camera. Problem is it's just a blur of noise and lights.

1967 GT500 Burnout

mrjaseRACING gets all the credit for sharing this smoke-filled video with us.

The car might date to 1967 but that doesn't mean the burnout is any less impressive. We love the flat black paint on this GT500 but we love it's tire-smoking abilities more!

Get a good look at the car in the first half of the video; by the half-way point, it's just billowing smoke in every direction. However, you do get a small glimpse of the almost perfect rubber circle around the car just before the clip ends. Sweet!

Ah, those lovable Finns, they've been at it again. First they took their bikes into the woods for a Forest Burnout and now they're killing cars by dropping them from great heights.

And this, apparently, is what passes as entertainment in Finland. The car's owner must choose "Cash or Crash" and, as the video shows, the owner of this Boxster decided "Crash" was the better option.

Yeah, yeah, it's only a Boxster, but still!

BMW fans will love the voyeur aspect of this clip. The cam pans one posed sexy red hot 135i coupe, but don't worry you also hear the chrome plated exhaust rumble just seconds into the video. Then she's in the wind! Sweet! You may or may not like the music, but great cam angles as you ride along.

C6Z06 Trying to Chase SRT10

And so here's the scenario of the SRT10 and the C6Z06: About 33 seconds into the clip the Viper emerges from a pretty insane donut burnout looking like oh yeah that was me bring it on!! Then at fifty-seven seconds into the clip you meet the Viper's competition: two C6Z06 Vettes. Nice! At one thirty-six into the video there's some annoying horn music..LOL!! but the cars are off pretty soon afterwards. The video quality could be better but now it's all about dueling horses and the duel begins at one minute fifty-three seconds in. The lap we see ends this way: Viper: 1:30.2 VS Z06 lap 1:31.9!

After a quick pit stop at CEC Wheels' newest location in Miami, Claus decides to take an alternative mode of transportation. Not to be outdone Team Reicke and Team Texas join forces to do everything in their power to keep Claus from beating them.

Stunt Cars

In something that looks like an automotive equivalent to "So You Think You Can Dance", the VWs in this video get on down to some music at Universal Studios in California.

We'd rather have seen them sliding around the stage with lots of explosions going off, but the robotic display is still pretty cool.

Acura TSX vs. Forklift = Ouch!

Our thoughts go out to Skunk2 Racing and thanks for sharing this video with us; we know it must be painful to watch!

The pride and sense of accomplishment when you're finished modifying your latest ride must be pretty amazing. Gleaming paint, thousands of dollars of custom parts and many man hours of labor, as illustrated by Skunk2 Racing's Acura TSX, are gently rolled out of the work shop and into the daylight.

And then things just go horribly wrong. We're not sure who the monkey is driving the forklift but, evidently, checking his surroundings or driving at slow speeds with a large load were not, apparently, part of his training.

But that's OK. No harm, no foul. It's not like anybody got injured or anything, right? Well, if you don't count the enormous hole in the Acura TSX's driver's side door.

Er, what do ya think: bonus or getting fired?

Custom Chopper Bike With Air Ride

NCBOX is a fan of his friend Justin's custom ride, so he figured he'd share a vid of the cool 2-wheeler with us.

It's pretty amazing what you can do with $60 of materials if you put your mind to it. This is one sweet ride! The rear shocks are taken off an office chair, the frame is electrical conduit bought from Home Depot and the suede-covered seat used to be a skateboard before our industrious builder got his hands on it.

We're not sure it's cornering capabilities will be great with such a long wheelbase but it certainly looks rad and we love the furry dice!

4WD Turbo 'Vette

We can only imagine how much horsepower is being generated by the Corvette in this video. It's amazing it can even make a clean break from the line but, apart from seeming to ignore the green light, the launch is clean and fast.

The car clears the drag strip in 8.88 seconds at 266kph, so about 165mph. Turn up your volume when you watch this; you're gonna love the sound coming out of this turbocharged 4WD Corvette.
