Bullrun Rally 2007 Episode 8 of 10

Bullrun Rally 2007 Episode 8 of 10

More Rally mayhem from our good friends over at Bullrun

In this installment, the rallyers are en route from Orlando to Miami. The convoy of exotica leaves the Hard Rock Hotel in its wake and sets its collective GPS for Moroso Motorsports Park on Jupiter Island. En route, as you would expect, there's plenty of high speed motoring, not least from Michael Schwab in his F430.

Unfortunately, doing 180mph on the freeway doesn't agree too well with his car's tires and the result is a rear flat. Schwabie languishes at the side of the road as the rest of the pack fly by at high speed.

May in Florida is love bug season and the resulting carnage on all of the cars turns their sheetmetal from gleaming to gnarly. The best way to get that crap off? Coke and elbow grease.

As the clean-up continues, Claus throws a tantrum about who may or may not have picked up a route card that morning, and Schwabie's car arrives on a low-loader, ready to do damage on the track.

Bullrun Episode #3

We've been getting a lot of anticipation for a new Bullrun episode and here it is! Watch as Mr. Angry gets well....angry when another contestant rear-ends his Charger and busted by the cops- all the while pushing the limits of fuel and time to catch the leaders. Claus continues his winning ways by convincing the event staff to give him checkpoint cards early and driving his Cayenne 150+MPH!

BTW I chose the image above because your truly, ksingh, of StreetFire is in it!

Recognize the Trans Am below? It's the one and only Team Trans am from the Bullrun Reality Show. Mike and Morgan Alsop took their WS6 to Montreal to compete in the rally that inspired the TV show. I know that the rally didn't go without its glitches for Team Trans Am as I personally took the car to get the transmission rebuilt overnight while in Miami!

JVC's Bullrun Tested Photo Shoot

As a proud participant of the 2007 Bullrun Rally I know how much stress the cars endure. This year Team Lotus drove through 2 countries, 13 states, and over 2500 miles with the help of JVC's KD-NX5000.

Watch this behind the scenes video of the team's "Bullrun Tested" photo shoot.

Rally Racing history lesson, from Cannonball Run to Bullrun

So I've been watching the Bullrun on Spike, (Tonight is the last episode, I'm give'n props to Mike and Morgan of Team Trans Am!). It's been a pretty fun show to watch, but it is (maybe to a fault) commercialized for TV....and it has to be to cast a wide enough net to work on television. But this is the net, so we can get the real deal online.

Because of that, I'm really enjoying the series running on Fast Lane Daily right now where Michael Spinelli (editor of Jalopnik) is talking with Alex Roy (Team Polizei) about Rallies, their history and lifestyle. I think it involves something about a starting with a hand full of cash, lighting it on fire, and tossing your driving record into the mix while you're at it.

Transcontinental, Did the record just fall?

The Internet is abuzz, it's been spreading across the forums, blogs and even the Tonight Show, but rumor has it that Richard Rawlings and co-pilot Dennis Collins have just beaten the 28 year transcontinental record 1979 Cannonball Run time from New York City to Los Angeles of 32 hours and 51 minutes. Their time? A claimed 31 hours and 59 minutes.

Team Polizei captain (and underground Internet hero) Alex Roy is demanding to see proof. I'm with him, upload some video and let's see it!

Poll: Bullrun on SPIKE,I'm giving it a B-, what's your vote?

Did you watch it? I couldn't help but give it a shot since they've run so much advertising on our site (give back to those that support us!). That said I'm somewhat mixed in my view. All in all I would place it below American Chopper and shows of that ilk, but above the Power Block in terms of sheer entertainment. I have to admit I was walking in with lowered expectations after reading Autoblog's review, but overall I was pleasantly surprised.

What did I like? The Rally portions, I felt there needed to be more of it, and that was the part I enjoyed watching the most. The 3D map view was a great idea, but I think they could have used it better to build more suspense the same way Top Gear does on their races.

What did I hate? The challenges, and in some way I feel the rally was rushed to get to the challenge which honestly I found a bit silly. I would have preferred a challenge like an Autocross, Bracket-Style Drag race, or something us car guys are used too. Smashing light bulbs was just weird.

All in all I give the first episode a B-, good start in my book and I'm setting my Tivo to catch next week's showing. Between this and Forza I'm happy to see more car programing making it, I just hope that future episodes play up the Rally side more since that is what this is supposed to be about.

[Cast your Vote]

EDIT: SPIKE has put the full first episode online, you can watch it here [spiketv.com]. When you're done watching, come back and cast your vote in our poll.
