Spotted: Chevy Equinox Fuel Cell

I was driving down Sunset Blvd as I do every day on my way to the gym, and low and behold what catches my eye? It was a Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell test vehicle! Yeah one might say that I should probably be a little more excited about all the exotic cars rolling through the streets of Los Angeles but with gas prices at $4.47 for 87 octane, this Equinox got me excited in ways that the exotics simply can not.

GM actually launched a test fleet of these Fuel Cell vehicles as part of their "Project Driveway" initiative. The General handed over a handful of these vehicles to REAL drivers in select markets such as Washington D.C., New York City, and Southern California. Even I signed up for it but to my disappointment I wasn't selected.

With ZERO emissions and a range of 150 miles between fill-ups, this car is perfect for commuters in urban markets.

The Fuel Cell Equinox even beat out still competition such as the very popular Toyota Prius and Honda FCX Clarity to win Green Car Jounal's Green Car Vision Award.

CORVETTE ON THE BUMPER

Talk about too much wheel spins! Take a look at this classic Corvette as it's almost freaking vertical on its second wheel hop. The spokesperson at the drag strip commented "Wow! I hope somebody got that on video that was the most spectacular wheel spin, especially the second one!" The spokesperson certainly would not say the same thing if that was his Vette. Who would?

At 35 seconds into the video, the owner explains the aftermath and how he broke the bell housing, the transmission, the header, the front fascia and the carburetor hitting the hood costing him an estimated $3-$4,000 dollars to fix. He said he'll be back in town in about 3 weeks to a month and he'll "put some wheelie bars on it for sure this time."

Hey man! that doesn't sound too bad of an idea.

We've seen a lot of sexy fast cars lately on StreetFire. Some of the cars are so fast and sleek while drifting they become hot but it's been awhile since we wrote about a pickup. Check out StreetFire member, Triton's ride: a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie equipped with a Cummins Turbo Diesel (754 hp/1400tq). Talk about muscles and the Laramie looks past hot in a cloud of white burnout smoke.

The clip runs about 5:39. Vehicle specs are given at the beginning of the video and then you see the pulling capacity of the Ram. At 53 seconds in the first drag launches. Check out the smoke stacks! Later you see stills of the Ram and more drags. The drag that starts at 4:25 is interesting and doesn't have a predictable ending. LOL! Enjoy.

Bullrun Rally 2007 Episode #2

The Bullrunners leave the starting line in Montreal and head for Key West. Watch as the Crazy Texan, Richard Rawlings and his partner Dennis Collins take a $50,000 bet from fellow Bullrunner Jay Riecke to beat the NYC - LA record set by Dave Heinz and Dave Yarborough back in 1979 during the final running of the original Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash.

The teams head across the border for their first stop in New Hampshire and then on to Boston to party with the ladies from Girls Gone Wild! What a way to end the first night on the most glamorous automobile rally in the world!

Since Memorial Day weekend kicks off the official start of summer, we have some unique watersports action for you: snowmobiles busting moves on a lake!Motorsports enthusiasts motto of 'have horsepower let's see what she will do' is pretty 'much anything goes', and relating to snowmobiles on the water, has been since 1977.

'77 was the year snowmobile watercross competitions began in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. The idea is to hydroplane across the water. If you let off the gas you can kiss your snowmobile goodbye. They use flotation devices in competition to find the snowmobile should the driver's grip on the throttle go limp for whatever reason: carpal tunnel syndrome comes to mind!!

This video is a little over 9 minutes. If you've never witnessed snowmobile skimming or are a fan, it's worth a look!

The cliff notes on this video say: "This is what happens to a new 2006 Mitsubishi Evolution MR when a 17 year old gets behind the wheel and thinks he is a race car driver." From that bit of information I'm thinking this video may be the reason insurance agencies do not lower premiums on young drivers until they reach the age of 25.

The backed-out-of the garage-visual of the EVO is worth an “Oh expletive” moment. And if you worship the form, cut, lines, angles, of a vehicle the clip will definitely be painful--otherwise consider the viewing a time to ROTFL. Hopefully this young man won't stray too far from the cul-de-sac in this lightweight version of the EVO IX. Oh, and “Hey Be Careful Out There”!

Here are some guys cruising Orange County, CA. They invite us to come along in a 20 minute video of captivating Exotics beginning with the finely sculpted rear-end of the Limited Edition Enzo Ferrari and then a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. She is a rare beauty and high-maintenance -- even the oil used is $60 a quart. Designed as a street-legal Formula 1 car, approximately 400 were made and not all of them are still around due to accidents. However, Ferrari designers did install driver/passenger airbags so the drivers didn’t meet a similar fate. It is a shame; however, to have to say good-bye to even one Enzo and can you imagine how much it would suck if you were the owner?

This is a great clip so sit back and ride along or check out some pretty spectacular eye candy.

It's a little hard to believe that the North American version of the Escort, a car most Americans didn't want to be caught dead in, was tuned to the point of being called Europe's Landmark Rally Car. But surprises make life exciting and this drift action is no different.

Here's the scenario: The first action is seen about 18 seconds into the clip. This car is so smooth initially, you can almost see a person holding a remote control. The action becomes more intense though at 30 seconds into the clip. Wow!! There is more action at 54 seconds in, and just when you think the car is better suited driving sideways, they show the Escort on a straightaway. Nice 'change of pace' drifting video! Have fun!!

Here's 3:29 of Skyline British drifting competition. You may or may not like Queen, but the drifting action is INTENSE on a course that snakes through the landscape.

The first car is in your face at about 19 seconds into the clip. Then “British drifter cuisine” :) is shown at about 32 seconds in as the camera zooms in on grill and chef.

Now that we know the drivers will be well fed, the camera goes back to the track. Check out the drift that became a donut at about 58 seconds and at 1:54 was that door supposed to fly open? At about one minute left the camera pans different Skylines and you see Team Falken represented. But, don't click off just yet. The last few seconds show almost tandem drifting. Lambo LP560-4 Gallardos on Vegas Streets!

Speedandmotion captured several newly designed Lambo LP560-4 Gallardos on the streets of Las Vegas. This clip shows stills, different angles of the exterior, as well as in the wind shots.

The updated four wheel drive Baby Bull packs a 5.2L direct-inject V10 which produces 552 horses and is 44 pounds lighter than its predecessor. MotorTrend gives 0-60 in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph and a price tag of $201,000. There are also cosmetic updates to the Exotic. Here are a few: new headlights, great new angles that are 'Reventon-eques', and new wheels. The biggest change is the Gallardo's 'rear view'(2:27 into the clip): wider/shorter taillights, a black bar grille, and dual exhausts that emerge from a black casing.

Maranello Burning Out for the 2006 Bullrun Rally

This clip is an oldie but goodie uploaded by Car-parazzi and a must see for 'the' burning of rubber cult! This video features a Ferrari 550 Maranello.

There are two cars burning tires for the 2006 Bullrun Rally. At 23 seconds into the clip the Le Mans striped ‘Stang does her thang but her thang only lasts about 20 seconds. Then we have the 5.5L V-12 Maranello scorch asphalt starting at 50 seconds in and not letting up until about 1:40 into the clip! Wow!!! Oh and the Ferrari takes the video to black burning rubber! Cool!

SSC Ultimate Aero - Guinness World Record Run - 25

Guinness World Records Fastest Production Car IS Shelby Supercars (SSC) Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo and we have a clip of the record setting run. The record was set in Washington State on September 13, 2007 and recorded October 9, 2007. Top speed is calculated as follows: an initial drive down the course is timed then a second run is made in the opposite direction within an hour’s time. An official top speed is derived by averaging the top speeds of each run. The Ultimate Aero posted a top speed of 257.41 mph (414.31 kph) on the first run and 254.88 mph (410.24 kph) on the second run. The Aero won "Worlds Fastest Production Car" with a top speed of 256.18 mph (412.28 kph).

In this week's episode, Sasha Singleton realizes that she's better at rowing gears in a manual transmission than she thought. She was being a bit modest and only needed to find 3rd and 4th gear. Once she did, she was gone, baby.

After getting acclimated to the GT3, we turned her loose on the streets of Alhambra. She had a blast, but after a close call with this borrowed $120,000 car, we decided to see what else she was good at...

The answer?

Go-Go dancing.

She elaborated...with cameras rolling.

Skyline GTR R33 10 Second PASS

The clip is 2:02 long. You'll hear engine music for the first fifteen seconds into the clip. Then there is a great mystical creature 'big screen' image --that is-- the car is surrounded by burnout white contrasted with the black of night. Nice! The GTR R33 launches 'at night runs' at 40 and 58 seconds into the clip. The sun comes up for the next set of runs. Nice listening to the gear shifts. The last run begins at 1:39 into the clip and we ride along with a 'looking out the windshield' view. Enjoy the ride!

Team Velocity Street Drifting in Japan

Check out this 7:49 clip of Team Velocity doing great drifting moves in the mountains of Japan. We know before the action begins that there is the possibility the drivers may encounter icy patches which ups the risk ante.

Here's a taste of the action: At 47 seconds into the clip headlights bounce off snow banked on the shoulders of the road. Squealing tires and shifting begin at 54 seconds and then they assess road conditions before the 'real' action begins.

This clip gives a new meaning to the term 'snow drifts'! The guys begin to have fun at 2:12 into the clip. The cars encounter a slick spot at 2:33 then at around 2:50 we get a 'from the windshield view' of the action with more spin outs. At 3:49 they make a pit stop 'street drifting style' to make repairs on a car that sustained a guard rail hit. There's more drifting into slick areas until around 5:05 and then the camera captures the guys who by now have decided to hang it up and listen to music in a parking lot. The dance moves are pretty funny! Enjoy!

Corvette Toys for Tots Run, Part 1

Remember StreetFire member, C6DVL's previous video when he drove his C6 LS3 Corvette 85 miles in 43 minutes? Here's the clip: Corvette Knight Ryder.
His new video upload is our favorite Corvette speed junky cruising the New Jersey Parkway with 600+ Corvettes for a Toys for Tots charity event. This clip is 5:49 of the drive. Let's see if C6DVL gets close to 200 mph this time.

Initially we see the rear view of another Corvette which is nice. Then at 1:08 into the clip he puts the C6 in the wind. Listen to the gear shifts!! Nice engine music in this segment. Also we are watching his speed rocket up! And if you'll notice, as his speed shoots up the Corvette that was in front of him has vanished. LOL! But not for long, because at about 1:40 into the clip that Vette becomes a blur!

When he nails 182 mph the music kicks in! He slows down now and from about 2:12 until about 4 minutes in there are great visuals of other Vettes. The music blends in well with some pretty nice driving moves by C6DVL. He slows with traffic. Then at 4:32 he gets restless again! It is a lot of fun riding along in that C6 when he gets restless!!
