Since Memorial Day weekend kicks off the official start of summer, we have some unique watersports action for you: snowmobiles busting moves on a lake!Motorsports enthusiasts motto of 'have horsepower let's see what she will do' is pretty 'much anything goes', and relating to snowmobiles on the water, has been since 1977.
'77 was the year snowmobile watercross competitions began in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. The idea is to hydroplane across the water. If you let off the gas you can kiss your snowmobile goodbye. They use flotation devices in competition to find the snowmobile should the driver's grip on the throttle go limp for whatever reason: carpal tunnel syndrome comes to mind!!
