UNIMOG

SpeedEngineBlock brings us something tough and rugged in the form of Mercedes' UNIMOG.

This truck has Hummers cowering in defeat and all those other pansy SUVs running for the nearest mall. This truck is a serious off-road machine and it will basically just drive straight over the competition if it feels like it.

The UNIMOG can haul 26,000 lbs - the equivalent of 16 Smart cars - and definitely has a place on the 101 Cars You Must Drive list.

This Escalade might not have any off-roadability, but it sure has some good acceleration!

Central Europe Rally

hipstudio brings us some rally action from Hungary and while it might not look too strenuous for the vehicles involved, we have a feeling this is just one of the 'easier' stages!

Evidently the Central Europe Rally has several classes and while we admire the guys driving the 4 x 4s and those maniacs on dirt bikes, we love the look of the big trucks bouncing through the mud! They look like they're ready to stop and do a garbage collection or deliver something from Ikea. Just twice as fast as the guys who do either of those jobs would ever manage it!

4x4 and Dirt Bike Insanity!

We don't often use the phrase MUST SEE but this upload from mattzooooom is just about the most insane - and coolest - thing we've ever seen!

The police are bearing down on our drivers and riders as monster-size 4x4s get massive air over dirt bike riders, who then get massive air over more off-road trucks. It's hard to tell who's over and who's under but one thing's for sure: they're all certifiable!

Take 2 minutes and marvel at the awesomeness of this 4 x 4 Insanity!

WRC Finland 2008

The Rally Channel brings us, unsurprisingly, the latest action from the World Rally Championships.

We're pretty sure not all the teams are sponsored by Red Bull, but you wouldn't know it, given how much air they're all getting! This is the Finnish Leg of the 2008 WRC and it seems the whole of Finland has turned out to watch, support and try to avoid getting taken out by any wayward rally cars.

Dirt Demon Hyabusa

We're not sure if WyldFantasies was actually the one to record this vid, but if so...how's that black eye coming along?

Why keep a ridiculously fast road bike tied to the streets when a bit of a modification, some large off-road tires and a trike set-up open up an entire back-country to play in?

As our intrepid camera man states, "That thing's crazy, dude", and we think we'd agree. (We'll take the dog's bark as an affirmative response, too!)

Note to self: lots of HP + large off-road tires + mud & rocks = don't stand behind the bike when the rider hits the gas. As the camera guy says, "Ouch"!

Fast cars are amazing, but sometimes you need to go play in the dirt. This is seriously an extraordinary machine. The suspension on this thing blows my mind. It looks like like a double-jointed contortionist putting on a show at Venice Beach. You're waiting for something to break but can't look away.

Underwater FJ

Enjoy watching this FJ go where not too many vehicles have gone (and survived), underwater. They completely submerge this FJ and are still able to drive away afterwards.

I particularly like the fact that the windshield wipers are being used.

United Arab Emirates is where all the fun is

These guys are awesome. I swear, every time I see a video from the UAE I'm impressed by how much we have in common with those guys as fellow car nuts. It just goes to show that it doesn't matter where you live people who are passionate about cars are the same at the core.

In other news, Dubai has just debuted their 2009 F1 racetrack, so now suddenly I have a reason beyond sand dune off-roading to go visit. :-)

Hot off the encoder, smoka just uploaded this great hill climb vid... oh, just to clarify this is "hill climb" in the steak and potatoes sense of the word as apposed to the Goodwood Festival of Speed which is more the "tea and crumpets" of Hill climbing.

You know I've seen StreetFire being used to call people out before....but this is the first time I've seen a CEO of a major manufacturer use our site to call out the other guys. This I want to see. Better yet I want to see the CEO's of these ATV companies being the riders too. that would answer two questions, who makes the best product and which CEO is the best rider. Now that would be kinda cool.

The StreetFire.net team is heading out to Las Vegas here in a few weeks for the SEMA show and I keep hearing that Nevada has some fantastic ATV parks, after seeing this vid I'm feeling inspired. Most impressive!
