Camaro And ZR1 Doing Laps. Together!

Camaro And ZR1 Doing Laps. Together!
TheDarkKnight has been on another crusade to bring us only the best power-filled uploads!

Looks like it's play time over at GM! First around the track is the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, doing some laps and not pushing too hard. But then his good friend (or is that arch rival?) the Corvette ZR1 shows up and the two play some cat and mouse.

Seems the Camaro gets tired, as the ZR1 is left to run a couple of fast laps alone, disappearing into the setting sun in a cloud of dust, exhaust note reverberating in its wake.

Try and keep up while the Camaro & ZR1 run some laps

Streetfire was on hand when Chevy first revealed the new Camaro.

ZR1 Autobahn Shakedown

ZR1 Autobahn Shakedown
We don't know where TheDarkKnight finds this stuff and we don't care! We're just glad he's sharing this with us!

The first ZR1 in Europe is in Dusseldorf and one lucky Corvette engineer and test driver, Mr. Patrick Hermmann, is about to take this early production model out on the Autobahn.

First off, it's time to check the car out and make sure all systems (tires, oil, coolant) are GO! And then it's out into the fabulous playground that is the German autobahn system! Patrick takes it easy to start with but is still mightily impressed by the car's acceleration (it makes the Z06 feel slow!). Then it's time to have some real fun.

How much fun are we talking? How does 300+kph (186mph) sound for a first, fast test run on a public road? Yeah, we thought so too!

Woodward Dream Cruise

In case you weren't one of the million people who converged on Detroit this past weekend, Streetfire was there to record all the action.

In its 15th year, the Woodward Dream Cruise brings together cars both old and new over a 16 mile parade route. And this year's cruise was especially heavy on GM vehicles because it's The General's 100th Anniversary. Coming out to help with the celebrations were, of course, the ZR1 and the Camaro, plus some true classics from years gone by. Happy Anniversary GM!

ZR1 Police Car @ Woodward Dream Cruise

ZR1 Police Car
There are some amazing cars this year at the Woodward Dream Cruise in the Motor City and some stand out more than others. With the excitement building around the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, GM thought they would let the public know that even local law enforcement have the opportunity to purchase their newest supercar.

$1 million ZR1 #0001

$1 million ZR1 #0001

GMnext100 is proud to share this video of the first ZR1 rolling off the line in Bowling Green, KY and being picked up by it's lucky owner.

Well, we say lucky, what we really mean is rich! Or perhaps that's now poor, given the dude shelled out $1 million to buy the rights to car number 00001 at the Barrett-Jackson car auction.

But hey, the money went to a good cause - the United Way - and Mr. Dave Ressler is evidently mighty pleased with his purchase. We're not sure the horsepower-dollar ratio is a very good one at that price but some guys just have to have #1. Good for you, Dave!

ZR1 vs GT-R at the 'Ring' Courtesy of Garage 419

ZR1 vs GT-RAll hail Garage 419 for this clip.

With all of the latest controversy over who is the KING of the RING, our friends over at Garage 419 decided to do a little creative editing. They matched up the latest videos of the ZR1 and GT-R on the famous track and turned their own timer on. See how both cars performed against each other in ZR1 vs GT-R at the 'Ring.'

ZR1 - 7:26:04 Around The Ring

ZR1 Nurburgring Official 7:26.4 Record Corvette

Patience may be a virtue but we think it's highly overrated and we were just about ready to throw a fit about having had no new ZR1 footage to drool over.

But then Garage419 came to our rescue. And hell if this wasn't worth waiting for. Here, at last, is the video evidence of just how fast the ZR1 lapped around The 'Ring.

Are you ready? Because your first reaction, like ours, is likely to be "no f***ing way"! But it's true. The General's new 638HP, $103,300 supercar completed a lap in just 7:26:04...which means it takes a dump on the GT-R's time.

Worth the wait? Oh Hell Yes, especially since we get speedo, tach and clock read outs, plus a track locater, to enrich our whole viewing experience.

Corvette ZR1 Build

GMnext100 you ROCK for sharing this video with us!

Ever wondered how The General's most powerful production car ever built is, well, built? Ponder no more. This time-lapse video takes you down onto the production line to get a step-by-step look at how a ZR1 gets put together.

We love how much pride the workers on the line take in their work and the fact that Corvette owners and buyers visit the line on a daily basis to see how their cars are
made.

Check out the size of that motor being hoisted and the way the body is lowered onto the chassis and drivetrain. Very cool indeed.

638 HP, 205 mph top speed, 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, all for $103,300.
Yeah, we want one.

Corvette ZR1 does 205 MPH!

View Video

Brought to you by GMNext100.

So the New Corvette ZR1 has been received with much acclaim from automotive enthusiasts and is one of the most anticipated cars of the year. GMNext100 has exclusive footage of the General's new king being put to the test by the Corvette Development Engineering team in Papenburg, Germany.

According to the test, the ZR1 was able to hit a top speed of 205 MPH. I'm not convinced that this beast isn't capable of more. Let us know what you think in the ZR1 Discussion.

ZR-1 Corvette LS9 Engine Overview

ZR-1 Corvette LS9 Engine Overview

Brought to you by AutoBlog.

This is a must see video regardless of any preconceived Vette likes or dislikes. Why? Well, the powerplant of the ZR-1 aims to impress.

The video begins with a nice visual of the front of the ZR-1 which isn't hard on the eyes; however I'm waiting for the day GM does a redesign of the rear view.

Here are some stats on the fastest Corvette yet: 6.2L V8 with Eaton TVS Supercharger and intercooler; massive Brembo carbon ceramic brakes; exterior has a visible carbon-fiber roof (which we haven't always heard the best reviews of carbon fiber roofs); roof bow, rocker extensions and front air splitter. There is a carbon-fiber doomed hood with a window to the supercharger (this could be redesigned to make the car look as powerful as the powerplant it's showing off); carbon fiber dual cove front fenders; 19 inch front/20-inch rear, 20-spoke wheels on Michelin pilot Sport PS2 tires.

All in all this is a great video about an impressive engine. GM will only make 2,000 ZR-1 Corvettes. And by the way, you'll want to make sure you listen out for the ZR-1's distinctive scream.

Check out some pictures of the ZR-1 HERE.
