NOPI Update

NOPI UpdateIf, like us, you've been wondering why all has been a bit quiet on the NOPI front, here's some news from Michael Meyers himself.

Seems the downturn in the economy and the completely crap spring weather experienced by much of the country had a seriously detrimental effect on NOPI's spring season. And that underperformance means that NOPI has suspended operations for summer and fall 2008.

So, you're going to have to find something else to occupy your time because the NOPI Drag Racing Series, Drift Series and Nationals Motorsports Supershow are all canceled.

Let's hope that the company can restructure, reorganize and come back fighting in 2009, because the thought of no more NOPI really blows.

To everyone involved with NOPI - the organizers, sponsors, drivers and so on - good luck and we hope we'll see you all back in action real soon.

NOPI Drift @ Lake Eerie Speedway

NOPI Drift @ Lake Eerie Speedway

If you're a fan of drifting, you're gonna love this slickly-edited video from CQeNS

Shot at Lake Eerie Speedway, it's the NOPI drifters doing what they do best: billowing smoke, laying down rubber and gliding sideways. We know it's damn hard to do, but they just make it look easy.

Great camera angles, too. See the action from just above and behind the rear-wheel, from the passenger seat and over the driver's shoulder.

These drivers take car control to the extreme. Check out the precision donuts and the 360 at high speed. We'll admit it, we're impressed. And was that a Honda Element drifting?!

Want to see how they drift in Eastern Europe? Check out Zeusz Drift Team 's video from Hungary.

NOPI Drift takes the $50 Amazon Gift Card for Sunday

NOPI Drift takes the $50 Amazon Gift Card for Sunday

Every day we’re giving the previous day’s top video uploader a $50 gift card. Saturday Micarone took it with a video of a V12 powered Mustang. Sunday top honors go to NRGotenks with a video on NOPI Drifting. Long time senior member Slick came close to winning yesterday with a beautiful video summing up last weeks Formula 1 race in Bahrain. But didn’t have enough favorites to match the video kudo score of NRGotenks.

Anyone can participate in the Kudo contest, just upload your video and get the most links and favorites. See a video that you think deserves to win? Add it to your favorites and encourage your friends to do the same. To see a full list of rules, click here.

Podcast #004: StreetFire.net Booth at NOPI Nationals 2006

Summer is gone and we're full into the tail end of Fall, here in Atlanta. Thinking back to the warmer days of summer, I'm sitting on 18 hours of NOPI 2006 footage, so why not do another "Drive By" podcast music video? So, the subject, our booth at the Atlanta NOPI Nationals. The music? a Little drum and bass number from creative commons artist JT25 called "Electra Mission". Enjoy!

StreetFire.net at NOPI! Our Official Page

Okay, that was the most fun I've ever had at a car show, and by far the most fun the StreetFire.net has ever had as a team. We owe a lot of thanks to a lot of people that helped make this possible, so here goes.

First, a big thank you goes to Brandon and Josh from Motorcars of Georgia. They loaned us a brand new Lotus Exige to place in our booth and I think I spent at least half the show oggling it. We had literally hundreds of people come by and ask about it, so if you want more info and didn't get a card, please call Brandon Saszi (888-346-3161) and he'll set up a time to meet with you.

Next Kadi and Amy deserve a huge "Thank You!" While everyone worked hard, these two just stole the show by putting a friendly face on Streetfire.net. You two were real troopers, always friendly, and always willing to take photos and hand out fliers to spread the word. Thank you again for all your hard work!

Speaking of hard work though, there is no way we could have pulled this off without help from our friends Josh, Eddie, Tony, Junk and Rios. As a matter of fact here are some photos that Junk Shot and posted yesterday.

But it wasn't all work, as a matter of fact, it didn't feel like working at all because we had so much fun, and I think that comes from us finally meeting many of you that make StreetFire.net so much fun. From TeamRPM(Their Video) to Bob and Shawn from Fidanza.(Who've uploaded a lot of videos).

We also made a lot of new friends too, like Matt from LED Dome Lights, who Kadi Interviewed...(Hope you got your voice back!), We also had a good time hanging with Evan and the gang from Exedy Clutch, and we really appreciate the T-shirts and Hats! Here is an interview that Kadi did. We also met Adam Matthews from Eibach who is also the announcer on G4TV's Formula D show. Thanks for the kind words Adam, glad to know we're mutual friends of each others works. We also really enjoyed meeting Brian Fox from Fox Marketing.

We had an especially good time with folks from Kicker. Drew, Kip and Benny. (sorry if I missed anyone). You guys really showed us all a great time and we enjoyed closing down the Outback! I think we have a few hours worth of footage shooting T-Shirts off your trailer, so it may take some time to go through it all and put together a best of clip. But here is a little bit of it. Additionally we really enjoyed meeting K Smooth and DJ Fury. You guys really know how to get a crowd going and I can't thank you enough for spreading the word for us!

And finally I want to thank everyone that took the time to come by our booth, say hi and let us know you like what we're doing. We spend so much time behind a computer that sometimes we lose site of how many people we have reached out to, so from the entire StreetFire.net team thank you, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!

NOPI Update!

Sean & Adam working till 2AM on the booth.
Well folks, barring a natural disaster, act of god or last minute leash pop by the wife, StreetFire.net is going to have a booth at the 2006 Atlanta NOPI Nationals this weekend! We're running around like mad men here at the last second trying to get our booth together in time.

Please come by, say hi! Tell us what you like and don't like about the site and what we can do to make it better. We should have some goodies to give out if you're shooting video to upload to StreetFire.net so please tell us if you're uploading NOPI footage to the site next week. Assuming I'm not hung over on Sunday we'll try and get a post-event NOPI section together on the site with your video submissions, pictures, etc. That way those of you that can't make it this weekend can at least get a feel for the show.

Special note to StreetFire.net Sponsors. We've had a huge response to our new sponsor program but a lot of questions too. Be sure to ask for Adam or Sean and we'll be happy to talk to you about the program, and answer any questions you might have.

NOPI Roll Call! We're going to be there, are you?

90,000 car nuts came to the NOPI Nationals in Atlanta last year, and this year it's going to be 90,000+ StreetFire.net. We missed it last year due to the 2005 hurricanes, but not again. The entire team is going to be there and we would like to know who else is planning on going?
