2008 Gumball 3000 Rally: San Francisco Start

videoguy was on hand as this year's Gumball 3000 Rally rolled into San Francisco.

The starting point of this $120,000 10-day adventure was the Fairmont Hotel, with destinations as varied as Las Vegas and North Korea!

There are definitely some impressive cars to watch out for: a couple of F430 Spyders, a totally sick-looking, flat black Ford GT, a Lotus Exige, a yellow Z06 'taxi'
that manages to pick up a hot blond (and get her to take her top off for the cameras), plus more 911 Turbos than you can shake a stick at, including our favorite being driven by some dickhead who's yet to learn the art of moving off in 1st gear. It was a really slight incline though...

Very Loud Stage 3 Cam Z06

We've said it before, we love the Z06. But, as ChargerRTZ can attest, there ain't nothing wrong with adding even more performance to this already stupidly fast car.

How does a Stage 3 cam, headers and 150 psi of nitrous sound by way of modifications? Pretty sweet, right! And the dyno runs speak for themselves. We're not sure how they're getting 554hp out of this car, stock, but that's the number it makes. But just wait til they hit the 'goody' switch and see that number leap to 708hp. Nice!

Supercharged Vette vs.F430

You know what it's like, you're just moeseying along in your ridiculously-loud, supercharged Corvette when you espy a F430 up ahead. Well, rude not to go and introduce yourself, right?

The two cars do some freeway slicing and dicing, then get a listen to the 'Vette's exhaust rumble and check out it's Stars & Stripes engine block. Sweet! Then it's time to play with a friend's Z06. Seems like a pretty good way to spend the day.

LG Motorsports Coil Over Shock Test

LGMotorsports is a Corvette and LSX modification shop based in Dallas, TX and it competes in the ALMS GT2 class with a C6 Corvette.

They're very proud of their parts and aren't afraid to put their money where their mouth is: i.e., show us that their stuff really works!

We don't know many people who'd happily run their car over a 6 x 6 piece of wood, 6 times, just to prove a point. And on their own race car, no less! But, as you'll see, their coil over shock is just as strong and well-built as they say it is. Alas, the stock wheel doesn't fare too well.

GT-R R35 vs. C6 Z06

We want to say thanks to cammedLs1 for bringing us this video but we're not really sure what we just saw.

Well, fine, it's a C6 Z06 vs. a GT-R R35 going head-to-head on the street. And while it's shot in Oman, we're pretty sure all that oil money could pay for a few more street lights so we could get a better idea of just what the hell is going on!

See what happens as American Muscle goes up against Japanese Engineering from 60kph, 80kph, a standing start and finally 180kph. From what we can tell, the U.S. of A. whups some serious ass! Then again, a dark road, a '3 honk GO signal' and goodness knows who behind the wheel does not exactly make this a conclusive test, so Nissan, don't fret too much, we still love the GT-R.
