Lewis & Heikki Tour The McLaren Technology Center

Lewis & Heikki Tour The McLaren Technology Center
Fan-bloody-tastic video from AutomotiveTV !

Everybody knows it costs an arm and a leg, and various other body parts, to be competitive in Formula One Grand Prix racing, and one look at the McLaren Technology Center will give you an idea of how seriously expensive it is. (You could eat off any of those surfaces, they're that clean!)

Take a tour as Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen get a glimpse of what really goes into making their cars good enough to bag the front row of the grid week-after-week. Hamilton gets hands-on with carbon fiber, spray-painting part of a front wing and applying decals to a nose cone, and has no problem posing for pictures with all the guys who make his car the beast it is on the track.

Blast from the past, the 1961 French Grand Prix of Rheims

How far we have come! After seeing the Malaysia Grand Prix last weekend this video really takes you back to a simpler time when teams would drive their Grand Prix cars into town, crews would drink and smoke around the pit lane, and fans would sit ten feet off the track. What really makes this a great video for me, was getting to meet Dan Gurney in LA recently. He is still just as passionate about the sport as when he was a driver. Great video, really enjoyed this one!
