Hard Drive Video Camera fails in-car shooting tests

This is a huge disappointment for me because I really have been wanting to make the switch to hard drive recording to relieve video dumping time.

Well, one of our forum members took the plunge and got a JVC GZ-MG77 Hard Drive Video camera, and come to find out the little camera has difficulty with the shocks and bumps of in-car filming. He tried quite a few things to soften the vibrations, including a home made in-car mount but in the end had to give up. Very much a shame. In other news we're shooting with a mini-DV video 3CCD compact form factor Panasonic, and though we haven't done much in-car footage I've really enjoyed the quality of the footage, and ease of mounting due to compact size.

As always, please join our videography discussion, and let us know your thoughts.
